Shared SSL provides a method for secure, encrypted access to your web content without the need to obtain a dedicated IP address and your own SSL Certificate.

At Tame The Web, you can access your site and content via SSL using an address in the format:

https://128bit-secured.co.uk/~youraccountname-  (this is only 8 charachters long)

An example of how this works is such. Fred Bloggs has an site that sells toys called, "The Toy Shop", and the url is http://www.fredstoys.co.uk, he has a shopping cart script that he wants to secure via SSL .  Fred's user name is "fredstoy" (First 8 characters from his primary domain name )

The way this would be done is to use Tame The Webs Shared SSL using his account username. So the url to the shared area would be https://128bit-secured.co.uk/~fredstoy

It is that simple. There are no complex steps to perform. Many popular shopping cart programs include a method of configuring the "secure" url to use, check the documentation for your shopping cart software for more details.

If you are using actinic and wish to use the shared SSL then please see the section "Setting Up Actinic With Shared SSL "
